Christmas
Day on
The Wrekin
25-Dec-2005 Little Wenlock
|
A small
group of the more ardent, dedicated runners set of from Little Wenlock at
9am on Christmas day for their annual pilgrimage to the
great Wrekin. Overnight, the mist had set in and it was a real 'pea souper'.
Visibility was down to about 20meters.
As the group ascended the mountain via the
zig zags they suddenly broke through the cloud and everything became crystal clear.
It was like a different world. How better to spend Christmas morning!
On the main tourist path the group happened upon a large crowd of
athletic looking types dressed in red suits with white beards.
Further up the
path Grace and Pete Hough and eventually at the summit another gathering of
Telford Harriers making merry.
Champaign was flowing and smoked
salmon being consumed. A perfect way to celebrate the marriage of
Michelle and Spencer
who had tied the knot on the previous day.
The atmosphere at the summit was
indescribable. I’ve never quite seen such a brilliant view of the low lying
cloud. So foggy down below but yet bright and clear up on top.
Darren, if you your photos came
out then please let me have a couple for the web. Cheers.
