North Wales Cross Country
Wrexham 20-Jan-2007

Kim Green and Chris Davies gave Telford AC a double gold finish in the 4th Majestic Travel Cross Country League Race at Wrexham.

Kim Green from Sutton Hill running in her first North Wales Cross Country League race of the season, recorded her first victory coming home 12 seconds clear of Wrexham's Caroline Harney. Green had been tucked in behind the Wrexham leader on the opening lap but in dry and windy conditions she waited before making her break to the front and was then never headed winning in 16.58. Caroline Harney who was second to Claire Martin at Colwyn Bay back in September was second in 17.10 whilst another athlete Anna Frost the winner at Bangor and Lilleshall, was third in 17.23.Sandra Kleeman of Eryri was 4th in 17.53, Emma Parry completed the scoring 3 for league leaders Wrexham in 5th, 17.57 with Isabel Redfern of Colwyn Bay 6th in 18.01.

Oswestry's Birgit Eyke was 13th, in 19.10 and with her team mate Alison Tickner completing the scoring team in 15th,19.26 which gave them 36 points to take second place on the day one point clear of third placed Telford. Oswestry's veterans womens team comfortably won the team race with 17 points and are now leading the veterans category overall.

Chris won this race last year before jetting off to Australia and Japan for the Commonwealth Games and Word Cross Country Championships.Chris also had the satisfaction of leading Telford AC to win the team race with 83 points and now lead the league with just one race to go.
