Shrewsbury Athletic Club won the North Wales Cross Country League senior mens team title for the fifth time in their history and for the first time since the 1983/84 season and to cap their best cross country season for years their mens masters ( over 40's ) team also took the team award. In the final league race at Oswestry, the 19 strong Shrewsbury team were led home by Ian Hughes from Church Stretton who again led home the squad as he finished 12th and the second over 40 in 35.32 as they packed their first six scoring runners in the 41 places. They won the final race, with 167 points, just 11 points ahead of second placed Abergele, with Eryri 3rd with 199 points. This was Shrewsbury's third team win of the season after previous victories at Colwyn Bay, Bangor and Oswestry. They finished with 773 points, with Abergele second overall with 1021pts, whilst previous champions Eryri took the bronze medals with 1156pts. Telford AC the only other Shropshire club in Division One were 8th on the day and finished 6th overall. Oswestry Olympians were sescond on the day in the Second Division and fourth overall whilst Bridgnorth AC were 10th on the day and 10th overall whilst Maldwyn Harriers were 11th on the day and 11th overall.

Oswestry's Oli Blake was the leading Shropshire individual finishing second as he had in the previous race at Wrexham. The race was won by Bangor University student Rob Samuel who had finished 5th at Wrexham winning in 33.07, 25 seconds ahead of the Oswestry man. Buckley's Clive West was 3rd in 33.48 20 seconds ahead of Telford AC's Chris Bagshaw who was 4th. This was a real battle between these two as it has been all season which meant West took the overall league individual title with Chris Bagshaw from Ketley henjoying his best ever cross country season as he took the silver medal.

Other Shropshire individual medallists were Bridgnorth's Bob Walters who was 137th (53.54) on the day and finished as the second over 65 veteran overall, Shrewsbury AC's Andy Lewis who was 82nd (42.03) in the final race took the silver medal in the overall over 50's section whilst Telford AC's Colin Lancaster was 30th (38.00) on the day was the runner up in the league's over 45's category.

Shrewsbury's veteran's squad were second on the day with 30 points behind Abergele, but they won the league title with 156 pts, Buckley 3rd on the day finished 2nd overall with |Abergele third. Oswestry vets were 6th on the day and 9th overall, Telford AC were 10th on the day and 5th overall, with Bridgnorth 12th at Oswestry and 11th overall.

Oswestry's Josh Ogden retained the Under 17 league title after winning his fourth league race of the season with a comfortable 26 second lead over his nearest rival in 18.30, whilst Telford AC's Chris Lewis was 9th in 26.11.

Shrewsbury AC's International fell runner Anna Bartlett was 4th in 21.00 in the womens race behind the winner Anna Frost from Wrexham who finished in 19.56. Telford AC's Cerian Lancaster was the first under 17 to finish in 11th, in 22.45 whilst C. Williams from Oswestry led home the host club in 14th, 22.59.





Wrexham won the team race on the day and won the league title with Tattenhall second and Eryri third. Oswestry were 4th on the day and 4th overall whilst Telford finished 7th and 7th overall facing next season in Division Two. Oswestry won the Lady Masters team race on the day.

Sarah Greaves from Oswestry was 40th on the day the second over 50 but took the winners trophy as the winner in her category overall.
